Kruger2Canyon Challenge is a must for any trail runner, it was our first stage/back to back race and a completely different experience on both days, especially with tired legs.
Day 1: Running in the “Canyon” – just over 40km and 2200m elevation. It has steep climbs in the first 7km then again from 23km, a few runnable sections but our legs were not ready for the steep downhills.
Day 2: Running in the “Kruger” – tired legs from day 1, it is very flat but feels like you are climbing mountains, 28km with just under 400m elevation. You run in a game reserve with the big 4, so expect loose sand and some animals on the way.
All routes are fully marked and do not require a GPS or self-navigation, we did use however. Aid Stations are positioned along the route. Distances between aid stations vary from 7km to 14km but there are some streams to fill up as well.
