Drakensberg Northern Trail is a trail running race taking place in the northern section of the Drakensberg Mountain Range in South Africa.
There are different race distances: 40km Mountain Challenge, 20km, 10km and 6km routes.
We took on the 40km Mountain Challenge 2022 March edition of the event and it was epic! Some rough rainy weather, slippery and some steep climbs – it is definitely a must and would recommend staying at Alpine Heath so you are less than 100m on start day.
The route was really well marked and had enough stations to refill but we always like to carry all the gear we need on the race. Only tip we have is to put the rain jacket on earlier…
